Establishment of the "2025 Ironman 70.3 East Mikawa Japan in Atsumi Peninsula Organizing Committee"

We are excited to announce the establishment of the "2025 Ironman 70.3 East Mikawa Japan in Atsumi Peninsula Organizing Committee" (Chairman: Isao Ishiguro, hereafter referred to as the Organizing Committee). This committee has been formed with the collaboration of Aichi Prefecture, Tahara City, Toyohashi City, Tahara City Chamber of Commerce, Atsumi Chamber of Commerce, Toyohashi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Atsumi Peninsula Tourism Bureau, Toyohashi Tourism and Convention Association, Tahara City Sports Association, Toyohashi City Sports Association, Aichi Triathlon Association, and the East Mikawa Sports and Regional Promotion Foundation.

A press conference was held on July 1, 2024, at MUSASHi Innovation Lab CLUE (Address: Cocola Avenue 3F, 1-135 Ekimae Odori, Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, established in December 2018) to officially announce the formation of the Organizing Committee.

Establishment of the "2025 Ironman 70.3 East Mikawa Japan in Atsumi Peninsula Organizing Committee"

The Organizing Committee is set to host the international triathlon event, the "2025 Ironman 70.3 East Mikawa Japan in Atsumi Peninsula" (hereafter referred to as the event), from Friday, June 6 to Sunday, June 8, 2025. By harnessing the global visibility and influence of this event, we aim to highlight the unique attractions of the East Mikawa region, including the Atsumi Peninsula, to an international audience. Our goal is to boost the region's brand, promote tourism—especially inbound tourism—and ultimately drive the revitalization of the local area.

Speakers at the Press Conference:

·Chairman of the Organizing Committee: Mr. Isao Ishiguro (Chairman, Atsumi Peninsula Tourism Bureau)

·Event Chairman: Mr. Masayoshi Yamashita (Mayor of Tahara City)

·Acting Event Chairman: Mr. Yoshitaka Asai (Mayor of Toyohashi City)

·Vice Event Chairman: Mr. Gorō Kamino (President and CEO, Sala Corporation)

·Acting Vice Event Chairman: Mr. Hiroshi Ōtsuka (President and CEO, Musashi Seimitsu Industry Co., Ltd.)

The first event, held in 2023, received excellent reviews from the participating athletes. However, it also highlighted some challenges, including the burden placed on communities along the course and the need for better promotion of the region's attractions.

With these lessons in mind, the 2025 event will focus on incorporating feedback from the local community to create an event that is not only supported by the citizens but also strengthens the sense of connection with the region. We are currently working on designing a course that fully showcases the unique charm of the East Mikawa area.

[Comment from Organizing Committee Chairman, Mr. Isao Ishiguro]

"For the 2025 event, we aim to create a competition that reflects the voices of the local community, is supported by the citizens, and fosters a strong sense of unity with the region.

By fully leveraging the global reach of the Ironman brand, we are committed to building an event that brings together the community, athletes, and sponsors. We sincerely appreciate your continued support."

Information about the event will be regularly updated on the website of the East Mikawa Sports and Regional Promotion Foundation.
